There are several modes - off, lights up in the dark, lights up when moving, and so on. quite convenient. There is a base and the case contains 2 neodymium magnets. I hung it on the boiler in the bathroom and didn't hang the base. it's on a two-way ramp. convenient to use. After turning it on, the backlight in the mortary is quite normal. nothing needs to be turned on. So you won't read the book, but you won't sit outside the hole either. The thing about power outages is super cool. The quality is average. The plastic is cheap. but it works well. I really liked it during the blackouts. I recommend it. a very useful item.
